Virginia’s Annual Celebration of Lights ![]() Tuesday, Nov. 18 to Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 Tuesday, November 18th Depart this morning for an exciting three-day holiday adventure. This afternoon after lunch on your own, you will arrive at the three-star Oceanfront Inn, located on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach for a two-night stay. After an included dinner, we will drive along the Chick-Fil-A Holiday in Lights at the Beach! With more than 250 light displays using over 400,000 bulbs, Virginia Beach shines for 25 blocks. Wednesday, November 19th, Full American breakfast is served at your inn this morning. From its antique and specialty stores to its shade drenched streets, Olde Portsmouth is much more than one of the area’s most pleasant places to take a stroll. It’s a history lover’s dream come true. In a single square mile, the Olde Towne District chronicles three hundred years of history in one of the largest collections of antique homes, South of Alexandria. Enjoy a tour of Portsmouth with your local guide. Highlights: Visit to the Emanuel AME Church and a visit to the Virginia Sports hall of Fame. Lunch is included at the Freemason Abbey Tavern (It was formally a church which was built in 1873). The afternoon will be dedicated to a visit to either the Chrysler Museum of Art, one of America's great fine arts museums. Comprising 30,000 objects, the permanent collection spans over 5,000 years of worldhistory. American and European paintings and sculpture from the middle ages to the present day form the core of the collection. In the Impressionist gallery alone, visitors can admire works by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Gauguin, Rodin, and Cezanne. The Museum also houses one of the world's great collections of glass, including outstanding works by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Later on a special Dickens Christmas dinner is included at the Boxwood Inn. After dinner, depart for Newport News and the Celebration of Lights. It’s a two-mile drive-through of spectacular animated scenes. Over 200 displays with over 650,000 lights illuminate the beauty of Newport News Park’s forests, fields, and ponds. Wednesday, Buffet breakfast is included at your inn before departing for a private tour of the Oceana Air Station (one of the Navy’s four major jet bases). The air station covers over 6000 acres and is home to over 9700 Navy personal. Tour highlights by coach: See over 200 aircraft including the FA-18 Hornet. Booking Information: A deposit of $100 per person is due as soon as possible to confirm your reservation. Balance of payment is due by August 17, 2008. Cancellations received 29-15 days prior to departure will be assessed a $200 fee, No refunds for cancellations made less than 15 days prior to departure. To avoid these charges in the event of illness or other covered reason, a non-refundable trip protection policy is available for $40.00 per person and must be purchased at time of deposit.
