CENTER IN THE PARK IN NOVEMBER
Come Out & Learn Why Center in the Park Members Are Thankful

Membership in CIP is free and open to adults aged 55+. Call the Center to make an appointment with the Center Counselor or membership registrar to complete an application, Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, 215-848-7722. Sign-up for ongoing classes at the Center's Program Office Window (Monday through Thursday) from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Please register/sign-up in advance for all classes, including free classes and events, as space may be limited. Special Events on Center in the Park's November Calendar, include:

Tuesday, November 9 - 10:00am - General Membership Meeting - both gatherings are opportunities to get up to date information from staff and volunteers on how to get the best from a membership at Center in the Park and share your ideas on programs you would like to see at the Center.

Thursday, November 11 - 10:00am - CIP Men's Gathering Veterans Celebration - Join in paying tribute to veterans. Free. Call the Program Office to register: 215-848-7722.

Tuesday, November 23 - 11:00am - CIP's annual home cooked Thanksgiving Feast with all of the trimmings - prepared by members of the Mt. Airy Baptist Church and served by CIP Staff. - $5.00 - call the Program Office to register - 215-848-7722 - this event is always a sellout.

 

Health Promotion and Other Activities in November, include:

Wednesdays at the Movies - 12:30pm - See favorite movies - old and new - $1.00 includes admission and a snack: Nov. 10th - Avatar (Sigourney Weaver); Nov. 24th - Back Up Plan (Jennifer Lopez)

Wednesday, November 10 - 1:00-2:00pm - Healthy Thanksgiving Meal Recipe Swapping - Thanksgiving is a time of sharing - bring your favorite recipes and also pick up ideas on diabetic choices, as well as lower calorie alternatives.

Friday, November 12 - 1:15pm - Conservation Workshop presented by the Neighborhood Energy Center at CIP - Free - Weatherization materials will be provided free to all eligible participants. This activity is made possible through funding from the Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA).

Tuesday, November 16 - 10:00am-12:30pm - Alzheimer's National Memory Screening Day - concerned about memory problems - participate in a free confidential memory screening and receive educational information - guest speaker, to be announced. To register, please call Delores Palmer, at 215-848-7722.

Harvest Health - Chronic Disease Self Management Classes - 6 week, 2 and a half hour sessions - available throughout the year in addition to Diabetes Self Management Program and other health promotion activities, including Brain Health Workshops and free blood pressure screenings - contact Delores or Marie at 215-848-7722 for dates.

These classes, special events and activities, combined with daily lunch (free for adults 60 and over; and, $3.25 for adults under 60) - advanced reservations required - 215-848-7722, ext. 208; health promotion activities, a fully equipped fitness center and ongoing classes such as computer, French, Spanish, art, pottery, Tap and Yoga, are free or moderately priced at Center in the Park. Come out and learn why our members say things like: "Center in the Park gets me up in the morning and starts me moving. I arrive to do line dancing, moving and grooving and tai chi. I am truly grateful for Center in the Park. The members of the center are always beautiful."
