Center in the Park (CIP) invites you to join us in promoting and celebrating active aging by attending a special event, workshop or activity. Unless otherwise indicated, activities are free of charge but registration may be required. Events will be held at Center in the Park in historic Vernon Park, 5818 Germantown Avenue, with parking available on the lot at Rittenhouse & McCallum Streets. Contact the Center at 215-848-7722. June 4 - 1:00 pm - Spring Piano Concert - Center in the Park pianists perform in concert and you benefit from all they have learned in their classes by being treated to a diverse selection of arrangements. The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. June 8 - 1:00 pm - Tap & Belly Dance Spring Performance - Join CIP active older adults as they tap and shimmy and demonstrate the moves they have practiced for months. The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. June 10 - 1:00 pm - CIP's Popular Guitar & Poetry Jam - Under the direction of internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist, Monette Sudler Honesty, CIP's guitarists will delight you with their arrangements as CIP's spoken word artists keep the groove going - this event is a crowd pleaser that you won't want to miss. The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. June 16 - 10:00 am - 3:00 pm - Spring Bazaar in the Park - Weather permitting, you can shop until you drop right outside of Center in the Park in Vernon Park. If you are a vendor, there are a few tables left for a modest rental fee - please contact CIP's Program Office at 215-848-7722. June 19 - 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Center in the Park's Art Show - "An Afternoon with CIP Artists" - Join CIP artists as they exhibit their works of fine art. Tickets will be sold at the door and may be purchased for $5.00.
Center in the Park is a community center that promotes positive aging and fosters community connections for older adults in Northwest Philadelphia, whose voices are critical instruments in shaping its activities and direction. CIP is accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers, a unit of the National Council on Aging as a provider of excellent programs, activities and services for its active membership of more than 5,000 and its 1,000 homebound clients.
