CENTER IN THE PARK - Time to Sign-up for the Fall Line-up

Center in the Park's (CIP) full calendar of classes and activities resume following Labor Day. Membership in CIP is free and open to adults aged 55+. Just call the Center and make an appointment with the Center Counselor or membership registrar to complete an application, Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, 215-848-7722. Register for Fall series classes or sign-up for ongoing classes at the Center's Program Office Window daily from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Please register/sign-up in advance for all classes, including free classes and events, as space may be limited. Highlights of Center in the Park's September Calendar, include:

Friday, Sept. 10th - 1:30pm - New Member Welcome & Refresher Orientation - get up to date information on how to get the best out of your membership at Center in the Park.

Tuesday, Sept. 14th - 10:00-11:30am - Acupuncture Workshop - Learn how acupuncture can help you and you may win a free consultation and treatment. Workshop presented by Jennifer Coleman Pugh, certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Free. Call Delores Palmer to register: 215-848-7722.

Tuesday, Sept. 14th - 1:00pm - Center in the Park and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition are teaming up to present another in a series of Senior Financial Education Workshops - Managing Your Debt: Getting and Maintaining Control of Your Finances - Contact the Program Office, 215-848-7722, for more information and to register. The workshop is free and refreshments will be provided. This activity is made possible in part through funding from the City of Philadelphia's Office of Housing and Community Development.

Thursday, Sept. 16th - 10:00am - 3:00pm - Celebrate National Senior Center Week - Make A Connection at Center in the Park - Open House - Participate in exercise activities; sign up for Fall classes; meet and greet; enter the CIP Gift Bag drawing; register for Silver Sneakers classes - some out and experience what makes Center in the Park - A Gem in Germantown!

Saturday, Sept. 25th - 7:00pm - Third Annual Music From the Heart Jazz Concert - at the Loeb Auditorium, Germantown Friends School - Greene Street & Schoolhouse Lane - Tickets- $30. Purchased in advance - $35. at the door - featuring: Georgie Bonds Blues Machine; Abstract Truth; and, the Clef Club Youth Jazz Band - Produced by Warren Oree, LifeLine Music Coalition - Tickets may be purchased at www.centerinthepark.org, at the Center or by contacting Nicole B. at 215-848-7722.

Tuesday, Sept. 28th - 1:00pm - African American Journeys Resumes with Reverend Joe Williams - interesting topics, lively discussion and special guests - register by calling the Program Office at 215-848-7722.

Harvest Health - Chronic Disease Self Management Classes - 6 week 2 and a half hour sessions - available throughout the year in addition to Diabetes Self Management Program and other health promotion activities, including Brain Health Workshops and free blood pressure screenings - contact Delores or Marie at 215-848-7722 for dates.
