Spend Earth Day with the Center in the Park/Senior Environment Corps
Volunteers Invited to Take Watershed Snapshot
Center in the Park’s Senior Environment Corps (CIP/SEC) invites all interested volunteers to participate in the Watershed Snapshot
2008 event on Thursday, April 24, 9:00am – 3:00pm at Chestnut Hill College 9601 Germantown Avenue.
Watershed Snapshot is an annual survey of Pennsylvania’s water bodies and watersheds
conducted by hundreds of volunteers in every part of the state. This activity occurs in
conjunction with Earth Day. This year, data will be gathered from April 20-26. CIP/SEC
will host the Watershed Snapshot 2008 along the Wissahickon Creek.
CIP/SEC volunteers, Chestnut Hill College students and faculty, middle school students
from Norwood Fontbonne Academy, Cobbs Creek Education Center volunteers, and
interested citizens will participate. Participants will perform chemical tests, observe and
identify organisms that live in the creek, assess the condition of the stream bank and take
note of the plants that help control erosion and support wildlife in the area. Individuals who would like to participate may
meet and join members of the CIP/SEC at Chestnut Hill College on the 24th of April.
If you would like to find out more about the Center in the Park Senior Environment Corps or the Snapshot event, call the CIP/SEC
Volunteer Coordinator, Fred Lewis at 215-848-7722.
