Housing Counselor

Center in the Park is seeking a full-time Housing Counselor to provide housing counseling services to older adults (age 55+). The Housing Counselor is responsible for providing housing counseling, advocacy, and developing housing resources for low income older adults in Northwest and Northeast Philadelphia. The Housing Counselor provides direct service to clients requiring housing counseling/relocation, mortgage default and delinquency counseling, foreclosure diversion, assistance accessing subsidized housing, information and referral, and housing consumer education. The Housing Counselor is also responsible for facilitating monthly housing workshops.

Position involves local travel and home visits. Vehicle, valid driver's license and insurance required.

Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field required.
Knowledge of casework process and practice preferred.
Two years with aging and housing services preferred.
Familiarity with other human service systems preferred.

Facility Maintenance Assistant/Part-Time Driver

Duties and Responsibilities:
Fully comprehend, articulate, and reflect in a professional practice the mission and philosophy of Center in the Park. Perform regular housekeeping functions, including: sweeping and wet mopping floors; emptying waste baskets; and dusting of furniture, stair rails and moldings. Perform regular exterior maintenance: assist with trash and debris removal; mowing lawns, weeding or trimming of shrubs; and snow removal, when necessary. Serve as back-up to the Building Superintendent for all building inspections and for companies holding contracts on systems and equipment. Serve as staff for rentals held at the Center in the evening during normal work week and/or on weekends by agreement/assignment. Receiving and storing janitorial supplies. Open or close Center as needed. Drive Center’s mini-bus for recreational, educational and shopping trips providing hands-on assistance to passengers when needed. To provide safe transportation by adhering to all safety rules and exercising good driving judgment while operating the van. Maintain the van properly including cleaning inside and outside on a regular schedule. Monthly drop-off of CIP Newsletters and tray pick up at Main US Post Office Branch Bulk Mail Operation and pick-up at the Printer, when necessary. Complete special errands and pick-ups as required. Use of a personal vehicle and insurance is necessary and required for short errands.

Knowledge Required:
General knowledge of mechanical systems and physical facility issues and ability to make minor repair or detect problems. Commercial driving and safety rules

Skills Required:
Commercial Driver’s License Good organizational and time management skills. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Good problem resolution skills Relate well with co-workers, Center members and volunteers.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma; Commercial Driver’s License; and, experience in facility maintenance and janitorial services.

Maintenance Superintendent

Center in the Park is seeking a candidate with extensive experience in maintaining physical plants to be responsible for mechanical systems, housekeeping maintenance, grounds maintenance, vehicle maintenance and security monitoring services. Supervises a Maintenance Assistant/Part-time Driver. Assists in set-up of daily activities and maintains preventative maintenance schedule and planning. Participates in the development and implementation of new initiatives. Shows enthusiasm for working as part of a team and sensitivity to an older adult clientele. Great working environment. Knowledge of mechanical and facility structural issues necessary; high school diploma and experience required, technical degree is a plus. Commercial driver’s license a plus, driver’s license required. Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. Supervisory experience. Position is Full Time.
